Books - 1066 Country Walk
The 1066 Country Walk traces the footsteps of William the Conqueror from his landing at Pevensey in East Sussex, via Battle where his victory over King Harold changed the course of English history, to finish in the charming town of Rye. It makes a superb weekend walking break, with a suggested overnight stop at the halfway point at Battle.
This new book by Nick Brown is being recommended by the 1066 Tourist Board, as for the first time the historic 32 mile Walk is broken down into 6 separate stages and contains all the essential information that walkers will need when planning their itinerary. In addition there are a further 6 circular walks all incorporating part of the 1066 route - so that's 12 walks in all.
The book is packed with superb photos, great sketch maps and fascinating snippets of local history.
